Professor Michael Osborne, Director of PASCAL in Europe was very pleased to be invited by Seoul National University for a week of activities in Seoul, beginning 14 October 2019.
On Friday 18 October, he was a keynote speaker at the 20th International Conference on Research in Education organised by the Department of Education, Education Research Institute, and Seoul National University with over 500 delegates. The conference was co-hosted by the Korean Ministry of Education, the Korean Educational Development Service (KEDI), the Korean Educational Research Association and the Korea Institute for Educational Evaluation.
We are very pleased to report that Professor Zeny Reyes and Professor Michael Osborne will be presenting a paper based on work of SUEUAA at a workshop of the Jean Monnet Network on Challenges to Multiculturalism and Multilateralism in Europe and Southeast Asia In Singapore on June 14, 2019. This network comprises the EU Centre in Singapore, Universitas Indonesia, University of Malaya and Maastricht University.
This joint event which took place on Wednesday, April 17, was organised by SHLC and SUEUAA and explored creative research methods. Creative methods are those that go beyond the traditional methods of focus groups, surveys, and interviews. These are methods that either utilise the natural environment or involve arts-based activities (such as music, photography, visual or performance arts) in order to address the research questions posed.
This post serves as an alert to a free-to-attend webinar on the topic of creative research methods. This event is a collaboration between SUEUAA and SHLC. The event will take place on the 17th April at 10am GMT.
This is the fifth blog in our series summarising the experience of the SUEUAA team in Manila, the Philippines. The visit to the Philippines marked the halfway point in our study, and consisted of a team meeting with the international team members, a symposium for external audience from the Philippines who are interested in closer working relationships between Universities and the City, and a city tour for the team members to receive a first hand experience of some of the issues affecting Manila.
One of the key elements of the Manila meeting was the knowledge exchange capacity of the meeting- particularly for the SUEUAA partners to highlight and discuss the issues facing their city, and also how their University is engaged in the Third Mission to seek to create solutions to these global challenges.
