Biography

Dr. Mpoki Mwaikokesya is a Lecturer in adult education in the Department of Educational Foundations, Management and Lifelong learning, School of Education, University of Dar-es-Salaam in Tanzania. His PhD research focuses on examining the students’ development of lifelong learning skills in Tanzanian higher education institutions.

He particularly investigates the extent to which universities in Tanzania develop students as lifelong learning learners. Mpoki research areas also include adult education, higher education, University community engagement, skills development, literacy and numeracy skills, and adult and community education. He began his teaching career as a school teacher.

He joined the university of Dar-es-Salaam in 2007 as an assistant lecturer in Adult and Community Education. Mpoki is currently supervising Masters and PhD research students in various related areas such as students’ development of information skills in Open and Distance learning Programmes, Secondary Schools Teachers’ professional development and educational policy.  Mpoki has also worked as the Chairperson and Member of a team to review a Degree and Diploma programmes in Adult and Lifelong Learning at the University of Namibia.
